Justice for Tiger

It all started on Wednesday, April 15th, when Texas veterinarian, Kristen Lindsey posted a picture of herself on Facebook gleefully boasting about killing a neighborhood cat with a bow and arrow. The picture shows Lindsey (I refuse to call her Dr. or even Miss) dangling the not yet dead cat from the tip of an arrow as she smiles delightedly beside it. The caption on the picture read “My first bow kill... lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head. Vet of the year award... gladly accepted.” If this isn’t horrifying enough, the post ended with a crying laughing emoticon.

The post quickly went viral and it turned out that the cat was the pet of an elderly couple that lived nearby. His name was Tiger. He was a gentle, loving cat who enjoyed riding a tractor with his human.

The Austin County police and the Texas State Veterinary Medical Examiners opened investigations. Lindsey was fired from her job at a local animal clinic and has since gone into hiding. On Tuesday, April 21st, the Austin County police closed their investigation and handed it over to the district attorney for filing charges of animal cruelty. Charges have yet to be filed.  The Grand Jury convenes on April 29th, but it is not known if this case is on the docket.

You can find more information on the case here along with a list of related websites.

This has haunted me and I’ve cried many tears over the suffering this woman has caused. Her joy at causing the suffering is sickening and what makes this 100 times worse is that she was a veterinarian. I’m begging any animal lover out there to please contact the district attorney’s office. Kristen Lindsey should not be allowed to get away with the pain and suffering that she has caused.
